From the fusion between the classic Antares range for family cruising and the old Barracuda range for fishing enthusiasts, Beneteau presents the new design of the Antares 8 OB.
With two versions designed in detail, Cruising and Fishing, this Beneteau weekender is undoubtedly the most versatile. It adapts to family getaways and sport fishing days in good company, 8 metres designed to please both family cruising and fishing lovers.
Beneteau achieves smooth and functional movement on deck thanks to the side hatch on the hull, which makes boarding and retrieving the largest catches that have “taken the bait” during fishing trips easier, as well as a wider-than-usual starboard passage for this size, ensuring easy access to the bow.
The modular aft cockpit can be configured either to facilitate fishermen’s movements, clearing it almost entirely while retaining storage space, or to enjoy cruising life, with a U-shaped lounge convertible into a sunbed, a folding table, and the option to integrate a refrigerator under one of the benches.
The functionality of its design extends to the hard top, which features handrails for securing bulky luggage and the option to add 5 rod holders and fishing lights. The aft bench is retractable so that, once moored, the engine can be raised and the propellers left out of the water, helping to preserve maintenance and prevent deterioration. This way, you can enjoy an outboard boat without sacrificing deck space for the engine.
Thanks to its studied layout and ergonomics, this 26-footer offers a larger pilot house than usual for its length. The asymmetry in the external aisles, with the starboard aisle being wider and the port aisle narrower, provides more interior volume in the saloon area, where the co-pilot's seat can be moved to join the other diners at the table or enjoy the views from the helm station.
The option of a well-equipped galley and the cockpit with its adjustable and rotating seat complete a very well ventilated and luminous cabin thanks to the large sliding windows that surround it. One of these panoramic windows is located next to the pilot's side, offering ease of movement with the exterior and very good ventilation.
This weekender can sleep up to 5 people comfortably, thanks to its complete bathroom with shower option and the distribution of the spaces between the saloon convertible into a double bed, the forward cabin with a double bed and the storage cabin at mid-length in which a single berth can be incorporated.
· Fishing version: Beneteau has designed this version in detail with the sole objective of making the most of sport fishing. The aft cockpit is left free to facilitate circulation and, in place of the stern bench, a fishing station with professional rod holders and a folding bench has been installed. It also adds a vivarium with water circulation and three stowage compartments below deck, one of which can also function as a vivarium. In addition, a 12" external display with depth sounder is available as an option.
· Cruising version: habitability, comfort and life on board. With 2 sundecks (aft and forward), 2 living areas (the exterior lounge and the interior lounge), a well-equipped galley, complete toilet, plenty of stowage space even in the hard top and a well ventilated and bright interior, everything is designed to enjoy a getaway to the sea in good company.
· Pleasant sailing: the hull's tulip design, the hallmark of the Antares range, offers stable and comfortable sailing. In addition to this comfort, the ergonomic cockpit is equipped with the best technological features to meet the expectations of both the cruising and fishing versions.

The importance of human team
Every year we come from Uruguay to enjoy a stretch of the Mediterranean. For 10 years we have trust in Guasch brothers and with their ships we have sailed through different countries: Spain, France, Italy, etc. The most important thing for us is the human team behind, because we know that we will help us any problem we have.

The best Beneteau dealership
Without a doubt, the best Beneteau dealer in Spain, and for my work I know a few. They have the best facilities, and on a personal level I would also say that they are the best in Spain in service, speed and professionalism.

Key Advice to Get My Oceanis Ready
I bought a second-hand Beneteau Oceanis from a private seller, and it had many issues. I only have words of gratitude for Ángel Bosch for his support in preparing spare parts quotes. He gave me 10/10 assistance via phone and WhatsApp, offering valuable advice on some high-cost repairs.
